The Modena ELLIS Unit participates to the Theme Development Workshop on Foundation Models

The Theme Development Workshop on Foundation Models, jointly organized by the ELIAS, ELLIOT, and ELSA projects, concluded successfully at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) in Thessaloniki, Greece. The event gathered around 200 participants, both online and in person, reflecting the growing interest and momentum around foundation model research in Europe.
Throughout the day, the workshop explored a wide range of themes, including:
- Scaling laws and generalisation
- Multilingual image generation
- Security and robustness
- Applications in healthcare, autonomous driving, and beyond
The sessions featured insightful talks, lively discussions, and interactive exchanges among researchers, practitioners, and policy experts.
The Modena ELLIS Unit was represented by its Coordinator, Prof. Lorenzo Baraldi, who chaired one of the sessions, highlighting the Unit’s active role in advancing European research on multimodal and responsible foundation models.
