The Modena ELLIS Unit applies for renewal after five years of activity
After five years of continuous scientific and collaborative engagement, the Modena ELLIS Unit has formally requested its renewal for the next five-year period within the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) network.
Since its establishment in 2020, the Modena Unit has grown into a vibrant research hub connecting UNIMORE, the University of Florence, and CINECA, bringing together more than 15 researchers working at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, multimodal AI, and trustworthy AI.
During its first mandate, the Unit has:
- actively participated in major ELLIS-supported European projects such as ELSA, ELIAS, and ELLIOT;
- organized international events including the ELLIS Workshop on Computer Vision and the Summer School on Large-Scale AI;
- fostered collaborations with other ELLIS Units (Trento, Amsterdam, Munich, CISPA, Alicante, CVC) and acted as an ambassador of ELLIS within national and regional initiatives;
- promoted strong connections with industry and entrepreneurship through the AI Academy and regional innovation programs.
With this renewal request, the Modena ELLIS Unit reaffirms its commitment to advancing excellence in AI research, training, and European collaboration over the next five years.
