Welcome!

The European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) is an European scientific network, whose mission is to promote research excellence and advance breakthroughs in AI, as well as to educate the next generation of AI researchers in a large pan-European PhD program. ELLIS comprises 39 laboratories (ELLIS Units) in 14 European countries devoted to research on machine learning and intelligent systems.

The Modena@ELLIS Unit, directed by prof. Rita Cucchiara, is composed of two research infrastructures: the first at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), with AImageLab and AIRI, the AI Academy and the new NVIDIA NVAITC center established in Modena; the second at the University of Florence (UNIFI) at MICC. Computational grants are provided by CINECA, located in Bologna.

The 2023 Edition of the Phd School in "Large Scale AI for Research and Industry", organized by the Modena Unit, has called the participation of all ELLIS PhD students and Post-docs for a dense week of tutorials, lectures and hands-on labs with large-scale GPUs facilities from the Leonardo European Supercomputer. Here you can find application form, speakers and activity. Enjoy!
